Terrarium with plants and fish(?)?

i would like to make a terrarium in a pretty large piece of glware. I know how to do the plant part but i wondering if there was a way that i could maybe have a betta fish in my terrarium... like put a small fish bowl in the terrarium and fill around it with the soil and pebbles and plants and such. Would that work? are there any plants that i would need to avoid for the bettas health? any other suggestions besides a betta(like a small invert or something aquatic) that are easy to take care of). Any suggestions for good looking plants that work well in a terrarium? thnks in advance.
