My Husband and I are both receiving SSI?

We have been married ten years. He was on SSI when we married and I started receiving SSI in 2001. They have counted us as one person "penalized us" for being married. They give us two separate checks but when they send notice of a raise each year they explain that the maxium amount is figured by adding both amounts together. Now that we are talking about Divorce, will I get more then the splitted amount or the same as I am now? Thanks for your answers! I live in Texas.
