Ideas for a Labyrinth Masquerade style party.?

This is the 1986 movie the Labyrinth with David Bowie (and puppets) and it's one of my favorite movies ever. Last year for my birthday I took several friends with me to a Movie Sing-and-Quote-A-Long. This year I hope to turn my house into Goblin City. Any ideas would be helpful but I'm really stumped on a cake design. I'll be re-watching the moving this weekend to get more inspired. This is several months in the future so I can do plenty of self made crafts.
